RentZero Review: Prices, Rating & Overview

While not the biggest name in the business of online video game rentals, RentZero may be the ideal solution for finding a cheap video game rental company. Their prices can’t be beat, and while they won’t be a perfect fit for everyone, they also bring some great advantages. Use this RentZero video game rental review to help make a decision about whether they are a good fit for you.

RentZero Video Game Rental Overview

RentZero at a Glance

  • 5,000+ titles
  • Plans start at $9.99 per month
  • 2 week free trial available

RentZero video game renting offers over 5,000 different titles. This is a great increase from what they used to offer, which shows that they have been expanding and improving on their operations. It’s still less than some of the other major companies and services, however that’s largely due to the fact they do not rent out games for any of the portable devices.

RentZero carries video games from the following systems: PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox, Xbox 360, Nintendo GameCube and Nintendo Wii. That’s the last two generations from all three of the major systems, ensuring that you’re covered no matter what system you have and what kind of games you enjoy playing.

RentZero Monthly Plans and Pricing

The biggest benefit to using RentZero is that they are an extremely cheap video game rental option. Right now none of the other companies can stand up with their prices. Here is an overview of their monthly plans for unlimited video game rentals.

  • 1 at a time = $13.95 / $9.95 when signed up yearly
  • 2 at a time = $19.95 / $15.95 when signed up yearly
  • 3 at a time = $27.95 / $21.95 when signed up yearly

As you can see, all of the plans are cheap to begin with but a huge advantage is the yearly discount. If you know you’ll be enjoying their service for a long period of time, enroll for a year’s membership upfront and you can save anywhere from about $50 to $70 depending on your membership level.

RentZero also offers a 2 week free trial. This is a great way to see for yourself whether RentZero is everything you expect from your online video game renting company. Coupled with their extremely cheap prices, it’s a hard bargain to pass up on.

Delivery and Shipping with RentZero

RentZero is based out of Houston, Texas and that’s the location of their only shipping and distribution center. Other companies operate with a handful of shipping centers, and can therefore provide more consistent coverage to all parts of the coverage.

The turnaround time and delivery rate depends largely on where you live in relation to Houston. RentZero sends out games in just one business day, and if you live in Texas or adjacent states you can expect delivery in just another day or two. However, if you live in New England or other more remote areas you can expect to have to wait for about 5 days.

It’s still not a terrible waiting period and as mentioned it can be avoided depending on where you live. The people that sign up with RentZero do so to take advantage of their cheap video game rental prices, and the delivery time is something that isn’t too bothersome as a result.

Additional Features of RentZero

One of the great additional elements of RentZero that should be pointed out in this review is that they offer a “Try It, Want It, Keep It” program for their members. If you rent a game and enjoy enough to want to keep it, you can instantly inform them through your account and you’ll receive a fantastic, discount price on the game purchase.

Also, if you get any of your friends to sign up after referring them, your account will be credited $10 bucks. It’s an easy way to save some cash when you have a few buddies who will all want to sign up for easy, cheap online video game renting.

The Final Word on RentZero Game Rentals

RentZero is definitely a little bit different from some of the other major players in the world of online video game renting by mail. For example, they don’t carry games for any of the portable systems and they have only one shipping center, which can increase your shipping time depending on where you live as described above.

However, they offer many distinct advantages as well. Most notably, they provide the cheapest video game rental that you are going to find. With plans starting for as little as $9.99 per month, it’s hard to go wrong, particularly if you live in the South, Southwest or Midwest when shipping delays won’t be an issue.

Online, Madden NFL 11 has some new elements. 3-on-3 online co-op, a new feature, allows each player to take charge of a certain element of team play throughout the course of the game.

  3. In fact I only own one Call of Duty game (#2), the rest I’ve played but only with friends on occasion. Gears of War and God of War are mainstream but had/have enough personality that I’m still interested. Never been that interested in Halo (finally just recently played through the entire campaign, three years after it came out). I still haven’t played any of the big Nintendo games for the Wii yet. I haven’t touched a Pokemon game in years.
